Joey's Goonie's Roadtrip 2010

Posted by Joey |

Joey Cabrera spent most of his developing years engrossed in 80s pop culture. Whenever he had the chance he would be spending his time watching movies like Sixteen Candles, The Karate Kid, and Back to the Future. He would try to be like Hulk Hogan when his brother, Mike, wouldn't let him play The Legend of Zelda. He taped Cindy Lauper off of the radio, and secretly had a crush on Tiffany.

Now he is all grown up...and none of that has changed. His ring-tone on his Blackberry is "You're The Best Around" and his favorite shirt is his Cobra Kai t-shirt. Sweep the Leg, Johnny!

One of his lifelong goals has always been to travel across the country and film some of the famous landmarks he saw in the movies when he was a child. He wonders if the camp in Dirty Dancing still looks the same. He wants to hold up a boombox in a field while blasting "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. So when he saw that The Goonies was having a 25th Anniversary Celebration in Astoria, Oregon he knew he had to be there.

He figures that the universe is speaking to him, and telling him that this is the time to seize the opportunity to fulfill one of his goals in life. So he plans on jumping in his car, driving 2,902 miles across the country, and reaching The Goondocks by June 3rd, 2010...while capturing it all on video for the world to see. But, he will need help. Obviously driving across the country back and forth, making various stops, and filming everything will be pretty costly. That is why he is seeking donations to help him make this dream become a reality.

If you would like to help Joey get across the country to find One-eyed Willy then please don't hesitate to make a donation. He'll be saving up his own money but may need help with gas, tolls, hotel costs etc. Any little bit would be appreciated and would get him one step closer to reaching a deep-rooted goal. Just go to the sidebar of this site and click the "ChipIn" button. Also read the further incentives for donating.

If you would like to join him for the festivities, or for further information on the 25th Anniversary of the Goonies please visit: Goonies Never Say Die and stay updated by becoming a fan of the travel page on Facebook.
